Update from Summer's Foster Mom!
Believe it or not she has been the easiest dog for me to foster. She is a bit more mellow than Lucy and just full of love and personality. She too can be left in the house alone and never destructive or get into anything. She is like Lucy in the way she likes to sleep on the couch at night or her bed. Jumps up on the bed with me in the morning because she knows I allow it. She gets along great with other dogs. She is submissive so I worry about her with aggressive or real active dogs. She would be perfect with Lucy. She loves to go for walks and walks excellent on her leash. Rides very well in the car, I put her bed in the back seat and she just lays down except to look out the window once in a while.

Health: Summer's hip has never bothered her while she has been with me. I walk her every day and have never noticed a limp or any type of discomfort. We have never walked much more than a mile. I did take Summer to the vet about 3-4 weeks ago to get her nails trimmed and they did a check up. Said her teeth look excellent and that she looked in good shape. Guessed her age to be 7-8.

It's always 'Summer' in her heart!
Summer has the sweetest disposition. All she yearns for is a special home to call her own.
In this chilly weather, summer keeps warm with her own little sweater.
She still loves to be out and about in the yard...
...but then she likes to warm up by relaxing on the couch.

Summer's requests
Summer is about 7 years old and has had her share of hard luck and hard work. She'd like it very much if she could have a dog bed of her own, something nice and cushy and warm.

She'd like a bit of a yard, so that she could run outside to do her business without being too much of a bother.

A yard with some bushes would be extra special, and would give her the opportunity to pursue her favorite hobby, birding. Binoculars are optional.

Lastly, and this is a requirement, she must receive daily belly rubs. After 7 long years, she is simply not willing to negotiate on this point.

More new experiences!

Summer moved to Evanston last weekend to spend some time "breaking in" a new foster mom. Since I had never fostered before, IBR wanted to give me the easiest dog possible, and Summer is, without a doubt, the perfect choice! I have never met a dog that required lower maintenance!

I brought my boys with me to meet her (they had veto power on bringing her home) and after some initial how-do-you-do sniffs, the boys ambled off to check out the yard and Summer came up to me and asked to come home!

Obviously, she's great with other dogs.
Since she's been home with us, she's shown that she's very good at establishing her boundaries with other dogs, both with the boys and at the dog park. A little growl and a sneer and each of them have understood and respected her, with no intervention needed.
Within a few days, however, she showed
her soft side and was laying close and a-l-m-o-s-t cuddling against them.

Summer and Lucy lounging on the couch!
Summer seems to be enjoying her stay with me and the girls while Paul and Yukiko are away. She is SUPER easy, great with the other girls and the kitten. Summer LOVES the walks after work so much that she has taken to standing by the car any chance she gets.

Summer Fun,...

Summer is about 4 years old.
Considering her past life- she is full of Pointer Zaniness and will make a great pet.

She is very happy in the company of other dogs and is quite playful.

She is also very friendly.

Summer's Here,...
She was able to do off leash at state land and check back us.

She must be hunted before., even with her bad hip, she could jump to the cage in the truck.

Hope For Summer,..

She was probably used as a brood bitch for some backyard breeder in Southern IL and was dumped at the shelter when she was deemed useless

Summer is Here now,.. safe and sound!
